EU HEALTH POLICY FORUM RESPONDS TO EU 2020 STRATEGY CONSULTATION

In November 2009, a consultation was launched by the European Commission in which stakeholders were invited to respond on how to best recover from the current economic and financial crisis through the creation of an EU 2020 Strategy. Nearly 50 European stakeholders in the field of health took the opportunity to write a joint response under the umbrella of the EU Health Policy Forum, of which EHMA is a member.

In its consultation response, the EU Health Policy Forum recommends the European Commission to improve the health of the European citizens through enhanced access to healthcare, strengthened cohesion policies, an improved digital agenda, evidence based research, and an increase in the allocation of funding to health. In addition, improved regulations on the mutual recognition of professional qualifications, workforce organisation and planning are required to ensure the safety of European patients.

The response is available here
