Background
EHMA is committed to promoting equitable access to mental health services, and to best practice in their management. in order to provide a European forum for policy makers, managers and researchers looking at mental health care delivery from a management and system perspective, EHMA will launch a new European Mental Health Network for managers and policy makers in autumn 2010.
The network will meet to look at implementing the evidence on effective and high quality mental health care, including moving care out of hospital and somatic care for people with mental disorders. It is expected that the outcome of the network will be strengthened European capacity to implement the evidence on effective mental health systems and a strong peer network to solve common problems.
Launch Event in December 2010
Supported by the European Commission’s Public Health Programme within the frame of an Operating Grant, the network will be launched on December 9-10 in Brussels.
Future meetings are foreseen for March 2011 during the EHMA-MCI Winter School in Innsbruck, Austria and in June 2011 during the EHMA Annual Conference in Porto, Portugal. Network meetings will be highly interactive in nature, with an aim to allow for effective knowledge exchange between participants.
Additionally, contact between network members will be encouraged through virtual means, such as an online platform on the EHMA website.
