3rd EHMA/MCI European Winterschool on Health Leadership

Integration and co-ordination of healthcare provision: towards genuinely patient-led care?
Innsbruck, 2 – 4 March 2011

Despite differences in health system structure, financing and political context, every European health system faces significant challenges in the years ahead: an ageing population and health workforce; increased levels of chronic disease; and changing patient perceptions of what healthcare should deliver.

In this context the EHMA/MCI Winterschool is an event designed for health leaders who want an international context to interrogate ideas and build a network of like-minded peers.

Running over 2.5 days, the Winterschool is focused on how to manage and lead healthcare in practice,
offering the opportunity to explore innovative ideas in depth and to work on practical management and leadership solutions.

Programme Information

Integration: towards genuinely patient-led care?

Systems that are highly differentiated generally have high degrees of integration and coordination.
The “health care and disease cure” system, by contrast, is often characterized by a high degree of differentiation but low levels of integration.

Increasingly, integration and coordination of health services are presented as the “silver bullet” to solve the challenges of chronic disease, an ageing population and a squeeze on resources. But is this valid? And if integration and coordination have value, how do you lead their implementation in practice?

Join us in March 2011 in the beautiful city of Innsbruck for discussions with leading thinkers in healthcare, site visits to innovative healthcare facilities, time for reflection on how to put learning into practice, and the chance to build an international network.
