New international literature review of review-level data on suicide risk factors and primary evidence of protective factors against suicide
Before Christmas the Scottish Government published a systematic international literature review on risk and protective factors in suicide.
The review had two overarching aims: first, to describe and assess current knowledge regarding the societal and cultural factors associated with increased incidence of suicide (risk factors), and to delineate the population subgroups that are at increased risk of suicidal behaviour; and second, to describe and assess current knowledge regarding factors that promote resilience and healthy survival against suicidal behaviour amongst people who are exposed to known suicidal risk conditions (protective factors).

Emerging Leaders - new partnership between The King's Fund and EHMA
EHMA is delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with the King's Fund (UK) to establish an international virtual community, ‘Emerging Leaders’, to be launched in June 2009.
Emerging Leaders will be an international virtual community of people who are building their careers in the health and health care sector. The target audience is those people who are developing their careers in management and leadership in health and health care, including academia and policymaking. This is not necessarily about ‘young’ emerging leaders, but rather reflects the particular information, development and network needs for people at this stage in their careers
We are now seeking 30 Founding Members to support the development of the network. We are looking for people who work in the field of health, are willing to offer ideas in the early stages of the network's development, and are able to offer at least two active contributions to the network in its first year.
For more information on the network and becoming a Founding Member please see the attached flyers.
If you want to discuss becoming a Founding Member please contact Lizzie Jelfs at EHMA or email Kings Fund.
